Welcome To Our Community
Community Engagement
Several international and local development partners are actively working with the Daasanach community on various initiatives, focused on heritage conservation, education, health, water, food security, land use management, gender, and human rights. The Ileret Footprint Project is a key initiative, involving community engagement in heritage conservation and entrepreneurship training. Local members have contributed to constructing conservation facilities and participating in heritage education and public programs. Entrepreneurship and business training has specifically targeted youth and women, fostering skills in digital technology, performing arts, and crafts such as beadwork.
These inclusive efforts not only highlight the community’s potential but also support sustainable heritage management and conservation. By enhancing skills and promoting local culture, these initiatives aim to improve livelihoods and economic status, creating lasting benefits for the Daasanach community.
Partners who have been involved in this project include, the National Museums of Kenya, Marsabit County Government, Kenya Wildlife Service, Technical University of Kenya, Turkana Basin Institute, Ushanga Initiative, Chatham and George Washington Universities in the USA, ICCROM and the British Council Cultural Protection Fund
